Jeffrey Ray Cottrell, age 64, of Dennison, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2026, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Jeff was the son of Ray and Sally (Gowins) Cottrell of Uhrichsville and was born on October 20, 1961, at Twin City Hospital in Dennison, Ohio.
In 1980, Jeff graduated from Claymont High School. He then started a list of many jobs throughout his career. He was employed at Imco-Barmet, Associated Grocers, Lowes; he was a Ranger of MWCD and a police officer for Uhrichsville and Dennison. A man who was considered a jack of all trades, Jeff even cut onions for the DiRusso Stand at the carnival. In 2005, Jeff bought Dale’s Heating and Cooling and Plumbing in Uhrichsville and still owned and operated it to this day. You could see his white van running up and down the road, having serviced many customers throughout the years, even in the middle of the night. Jeff was also a member of the Moose 740 and the AIC.
Jeff loved his animals; dogs, cats, chickens and cows. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone any time, he always paid if forward. He loved his children and grandchildren very much, always buying them ice cream and keeping popsicles in the freezer for them. Jeff loved going to Myrtle Beach with his family and spending time with them whenever he could. He enjoyed going deer hunting with his sons and grandsons.
On August 3, 2002, Jeff married Dianna (Bowe) Cottrell, who survives of the home. Also surviving are his father and mother Ray and Sally Cottrell; four children Jessica Cox, Jeffrey (Natalie) Cottrell, Joshua Cottrell and Jerrod (Megan Jones) Cottrell; stepsons Mundray Bagby and Darrick Bagby; grandchildren Carson Cox, Bronson Cottrell, Alydia Bruce, Jeffrey, Jase and Huxon Cottrell, Cayleb and Corbin Cottrell, Denver Cottrell, Langston Fellers, Shaylyn (Spencer) Melzer, Jaedin Bagby, Rylan Bagby, Katch Greenwalt, Chase, Kaylyn and Colton Bagby; great grandchildren Brinnley and Wayne Melzer; sister Mitzi Dryden; Christy Smith who was like a sister; cousins Dean and Sherry Fisher; mother-in-law Alice Bowe; nieces and nephews and all the people that knew and loved the person Jeff was.
Jeff was preceded in death by a brother Kyle Cottrell and brother-in-law Jeff Dryden.
Memorial calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc., in Uhrichsville, Ohio.
A memorial service for Jeff will be held at 6 p.m., immediately following the calling hours at the funeral home, with the Reverend Barry Hall officiating.
