Jerry D. Haas, passed away on December 15, 2023, at the age of 82, at The Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Born on January 10, 1941, in Dover, Ohio, he was the son of the late Reuben and Mildred Haas.  He was also preceded in death by his three brothers: Samuel, Gene, and Joe Haas.

Jerry was known for his kind-hearted nature and unwavering commitment to his community. Throughout his life, he left an indelible mark as a letter carrier at the Dover Post Office for an impressive span of 30 years.

Jerry’s journey extended beyond his role as a devoted postal worker. Before joining the Post Office family, he selflessly served in the United States Air Force. His time in the military shaped him into a disciplined and honorable individual, attributes that continued to guide him throughout his life.

Not only was Jerry admired for his professional accomplishments, but he also had an array of interests and hobbies that brought joy to his life. One passion that held a special place in his heart was collecting coins, baseball cards, and football cards. He cherished each piece as a reflection of history and enjoyed sharing stories about their significance with anyone willing to lend an ear.

Jerry will be sadly missed by his bother; James “Jim” (Doris) Haas of Dover; along with his nephew and nieces, Terry (Deb) Haas of California, Jodie (Victor) Roth of Dover, and Sheri (Greg) Yoder of Dover.

In honoring Jerry’s wishes, cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover.  There will be no services or calling hours.  To sign an online guestbook for Jerry visit the obituary link on the funeral home’s website.
