Jerry D. Schull, 91, of New Philadelphia, formerly of Walnut Creek, passed away at Park Village Southside on Monday, July 29, 2024 following a period of declining health.
Born in Lockville, Ohio on April 23, 1933, he was the son of the late Paul and Anna Mae (Sheets) Schull. He married the former Roxie C. Kohler on December 1, 1990.
Jerry served in the United States Army as a Military Police officer, including time spent in Germany. He retired as a computer controller from the Ohio Department of Liquor Control, and was a member of the Millersburg Methodist Community Church. After retirement, Jerry and Roxie traveled extensively visiting all forty-eight lower states, the Canadian Rockies, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and exploring the entire perimeter of Lake Superior. Jerry later took up woodcarving as a hobby. Being self-taught from books, he created intricate carvings of wildlife and would have Roxie complete the pieces with some painted highlights.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Roxie; a daughter, Mary Ann Schull of Pickerington, Ohio; and niece and nephew, Sherry Bath and Barry Kohler, both of Georgia. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Richard Schull of Columbus.
Per Jerry’s wishes, cremation will take place with the family holding a private service at a later date. Burial will be in Walnut Creek Mennonite Church Cemetery.
