Jimmy D. Greenleaf, age 76, of Sherrodsville, Ohio, died Sunday night, October 16, 2022, in the Cleveland Clinic Mercy Medical Center at Canton following a five-week illness.

He was born December 3, 1945, in Sutton, West Virginia, and was the son of the late Donald and Ruby (White) Greenleaf.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Greenleaf.

Jimmy retired on July 31, 1994, from the Ford Motor Company where he worked as an assemblyman for 30 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Viet Nam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was enthusiastic about collecting antiques and consequently derived pleasure from attending various auctions and sales. He was a “back-yard mechanic” who had the ability and desire to fix almost anything. He was a fan of all Cleveland sports teams. He treasured his family and found great joy in the company of his grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be missed by his family and friends. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Sue (Ericksen) Greenleaf, whom he married November 9, 1968, a son Jim (Marie) Greenleaf of Creston, OH,  a daughter Laura Palmer of Sherrodsville, his three grandchildren Derek Dowell of Carrollton, OH, Ryan Ogle of Mineral City, OH, and  Aubree Palmer of Sherrodsville, a brother Donald (Carol) Greenleaf of Vermillion, OH, a sister Mrs. Bev (Jimmy) Bever of Ravenswood, West Virginia, and seven great-grandchildren.

No services are currently planned. Following cremation, his ashes will be interred in the Zion Cemetery near Sherrodsville. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville is handling arrangements. To leave an online condolence message please visit the funeral home website.
