John E. Eckstein Sr., age 88, of Dennison, passed away July 8, 2022, at Hennis Care Center in Dover, O., following a period of declining health.
John was born on May 5, 1934, in Industry, PA, the son of the late Eli E. and Rose E. (Deem) Eckstein.
John was employed as a supervisor at Amvet/Cantex and he was a co-owner of J & J Oak Furniture. He was a fan of baseball, an avid baseball card collector, an avid sponsor of multiple sports teams through J & J Oak Furniture and he loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Lois (Talbott) Eckstein; five sisters; one brother, and his beloved dog Bella.
He leaves behind his children John E. Eckstein Jr. of Dennison, Pam McCoy of Arizona, Lois (Joe) Dorto of Uhrichsville; Mark (Carla) Eckstein of Indiana, Joyce Nedrow of New Philadelphia, Joey (Brenda) Eckstein of Roswell, Melody (Nick) Nichols of Dennison and Tony (Michele) Eckstein of Tuscarawas; twenty grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Funeral services for John will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at 12 noon, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. at Uhrichsville, with Stephanie Loquvam officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.
Calling hours will be from 4 to8 p.m., on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Wednesday.
