John F. Strazisar, age 78, of Canton, a devoted Catholic and beloved member of his community, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, after living a full and meaningful life.
Born in Dover, Ohio on June 2, 1947, John was a son of the late Edward F. and Mary Alice Rini Strazisar. Known for his caring heart, John selflessly tended to his ailing mother in their home for many years, providing her with love and comfort during her illness until her passing in 2005.
John was a faithful usher at his local church, where he welcomed parishioners with warmth and dedication for many years. His deep faith guided him throughout his life, and he found great joy in serving his parish community.
A natural storyteller and great conversationalist, John had a gift for bringing laughter to any room with his endless jokes and engaging personality. Friends and family cherished his ability to connect with others through conversation and humor. His personality is what aided him throughout his successful career as a Sales Executive for the Warner Company based out of Chicago, Illinois.
John’s dogs were a cherished part of his life, bringing him companionship and joy every day. He also found peace and adventure in the outdoors, particularly through his passion for fishing. For many years, he owned a motorcycle, embracing the freedom of the open road. His adventurous side also served him in his younger years; he was a member of the Civil Defense Emergency Service and Disaster Response Team in Winthrop, Illinois.
John’s legacy of kindness, faith, and love for simple pleasures will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, James J. Strazisar.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Jeff Coning on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia.
