John H. Taylor, of Port Washington, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, one week shy of his 97th birthday, at Riverside Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
John was born July 2, 1929, in Gilmore, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Ella Mae (Reidenbach) Taylor. John graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1947, and went on to honorably serve in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. In 1953, he married Dorothy E. (Kopp). John enjoyed being outdoors, and baked amazing pies. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Port Washington. Above all else, John enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a wonderful father, husband, and grandpa, always putting his family first.
He is survived by his children Luann (Robert) King, and Thomas Alan (Lori) Taylor; his grandchildren Jordan (Kelly) Taylor, Jonathan (Skylar) Taylor, Erin (Aaron) Fortener, and Emily Teter; eight great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Ardith Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-five years Dorothy Taylor, who passed away in 2018; and his siblings Irene Peeper, and Samuel Taylor.
A graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery in Port Washington on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 11:30 am officiated by Pastor Stevie Adams.
