John R. Basiletti, 80, of Dover passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023, in the Hennis Care Centre at Bolivar.

He was born on February 7, 1942, in Dover and was the son of the late John A. Basiletti and Sue Tiffner. In addition to his parents, John was also preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Basiletti who passed away only four days ago on January 4, 2023; his sister, Joan Wolfe, and former daughter-in-law, Joy Stealey.

John retired from Republic Steel in Massillon after 32 years of service and was a member of the Dover Eagles Club. In his spare time, he loved taking road trips with Joyce along with working jigsaw puzzles, collecting antiques, and camping. John also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.

A wonderful and loving father and grandfather, John is survived by his children, Erick N. (Kelly “Blinky”) Stealey and Greg A. Stealey, both of Dover; grandchildren, Erick (Caitlin) Stealey, Samantha (Eric) Bonaduce, Ashlee Kurtz, Kyle (Tori) Kurtz, Brittany Stealey, Brianna Stealey, Selena (Justin) Miller and Sierra Stealey; ten great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild expected in April; along with his sister, Nancy S. Kimble of Dover; several nieces and nephews; and good friends, Lee and Rose Pease.
