John Richard Gunn, 65, of Newcomerstown, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022, at his home. He was born March 31, 1957, at Coshocton Hospital to the late John A. and Norazella (Saylor) Gunn.John graduated from Walnut Ridge High School in 1975. He and his friend, Forrest Grant, enjoyed the marching band. He went on to attend the Ohio State University for music for two years. He then graduated from Hocking Hills Tech. College in wireline for gas wells. He worked different jobs throughout his life until he went on disability in January of 2009. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and his old Packard cars. He also loved music. He played in the band Direct Energy and the Tuscarawas Philharmonic. He also enjoyed being with his friends and family, and he loved to pick on his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Dee Gunn; his children, Elizabeth (J.D.) Eckleberry, Eveada Gunn, John T. Gunn; two step-daughters, Cassondra (Robert) McConnell and April (Wyatt) Burger; grandchildren, Kourtney Johnson, Bryson Scott, Kathryn and Nadia Hines, Kailea Gunn, Kaylyn Kinsey, Jocelyn and Julie McConnell; sister-in-law, Darla Gunn; nephew, Josh Gunn; niece, Tamara Gunn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Talmage Lee Gunn.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the David Barber Civic Center.
