John Verne Lienhard, 86, of Beach City passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. He was born in Kenmore on July 6, 1937 to the late John G. and Glenda Eyster Lienhard. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda K. Klein; grandson, Jeff Lienhard; and daughter in law, Valerie Lienhard.
John began his career at Republic Steel, where he devoted 30 years of service. In addition to his time at Republic Steel, John also worked at the Lynn Drive-In Movie Theatre for two decades, bringing joy to moviegoers and creating cherished memories for families in the community.
Outside of work, John found solace and fulfillment in his hobbies. He had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and trapping. However, above all else, John’s greatest love was his family. He shared an incredible bond with his wife of 67 years, Nancy Shetler Lienhard. They were married on March 31, 1956, and their relationship served as a shining example of love and devotion to all who knew them.
John was a devoted father to his children, John R. “Bob” (Pam) Lienhard of Massillon, Jay R. Lienhard of Colorado, Joni R. (Rick) Koch of Navarre, Judy R. Metzger (Joey Brown) of Beach City. His grandchildren held a special place in John’s heart, Chris (Chrystle) Lienhard, Nick (Kim) Lienhard, Scott (Jessie) Midcap, Kim (Joe) Fischer, John L. Lienhard, Bob Canon, Jason Lienhard, Sammi Jo (Terrell) Midcap Koch. John was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg. A service celebrating John’s life will be held on Friday, December 8th starting at 6:00 pm in the Strasburg funeral home with Pastor James Pitsenberger officiating. The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
