Joseph Jay Sensius, 67, of Gnadenhutten, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, March 24, 2022, of an apparent heart attack. Born March 15, 1955 in Dennison, he was the son of the late John and Anna (Michels) Sensius.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine “Josie” Sensius; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Juliana (Lavfer) Michels; paternal grandparents, John and Maria (Kiefer) Sensius; and uncles, Joseph Michels and Josef Sensius.
Jay was a 1973 graduate of Claymont High School before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in business from Kent State University. He was employed for many years by the former Stoll’s Market (now Mako’s Market) in Uhrichsville and most recently had worked at the New Philadelphia Walmart for over 20 years. He was a lifelong area resident and member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Jay was an avid fan of all of Ohio State University’s sports teams.
Jay is survived by his son, Brian Sensius; aunts and uncles, Katharina Michels, Theresa Sensius, and George and Beverly Sensius; and cousins, Robert Michels, Stephan Michels, Monica Koerschner, Daniel Sensius, David Sensius, Steven Sensius, and Lori Kelly.
Father Jeff Coning will celebrate the funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison and will conclude with a Christian Wake Service. Memorial contributions may be made to
