Joshua Jason Frederick Barr, 49, of New Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025 in his residence.
Born in Dover, Joshua was a son of John H Barr and the late Deborah (Clay) Barr.
Joshua was active in the New Philadelphia Schools music programs as he grew up which greatly influenced his choice to pursue a career as a music educator. He was a graduate of West Virginia University and toured with the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corp. Recently, Josh had returned to New Philadelphia and was initiating membership in the local Masons.
He is survived by his father, John Barr of Bakersfield, CA; brother, Jonathan (Allison) Barr of Bakersfield, CA; nieces, Jordanne (Jordan) Adamczyk and their son Justin, and Payson Scoggins; nephews, Aleck Barr, Jakob Barr, Kristian Barr, Matthew Barr, and Braden Scoggins; aunts, Lisa Clay-Trimmer, and Heather Sedlacek; uncle, Joel Barr; cousins, Launie (Aaron) Tice, and their children, Jaxson and Harlow, and Kolin (Mark) Trimmer.
Joshua was preceded in death by his mother, Deborah Barr, and uncle, Richard Trimmer.
In keeping with Joshua’s wishes cremation care has been entrusted to the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. No services are planned at this time.
