Joyce D. Prall, 85, of Stonewood, West Virginia, and a former resident of New Philadelphia, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022, in United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Born August 28, 1936, in Uhrichsville, she was the daughter of the late Jacob C. and Lorina Friel Shinaberry. Joyce graduated from Uhrichsville High School, and, on December 27, 1956, married Raymond L. “Ray” Prall. The couple shared 65 years of marriage prior to Ray’s passing on March 9, 2021. Joyce was a long-time employee of General Telephone & Electronics Corporation.
Above all else, she loved the Lord and was a member of the Dover Alliance Church. Joyce enjoyed being a helpmate to Ray, keeping a beautiful home and yard (and particularly growing flowers). She was a beautiful soul, kind, and beloved by her friends and neighbors.
Joyce is survived by her sisters, Edith (Walter) Leggett and Ardith Taylor, both of New Philadelphia, and Phyllis (Ronald) Bower of Dennison; and her many nieces and nephews, including Carla O’Dell and husband Michael, with whom Joyce now made her home.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ray, Joyce was preceded in death by her sisters, Madeline Horstman, Carol Johnson, Margarette Jackson, Faye Clouse, Janet Hindman, and Ora Jean Peterson; and her brother, Robert Shinaberry.
A public graveside service will be held Friday, July 1, at 1:30 p.m., in Evergreen Burial Park, New Philadelphia; Pastor Richard G. Rose will officiate.
