Joyce E. Gallagher, age 81, of New Philadelphia, died Monday, March 31, 2025, in Ohio’s Hospice Truman House surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.
Born in Canton, Ohio on December 11, 1943, Joyce was the daughter of the late James and Grace (Lantzer) Minocchi.
On May 4, 1963 she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Gallagher and together they have enjoyed almost 62 years of marriage.
She was a proud homemaker and enjoyed caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing and at one time taught sewing classes. She enjoyed watching the birds and working in her flower gardens where her talent was very evident. One of her greatest pleasures was cooking. She was known for her generosity by sharing what she cooked with others and being hospitable. She was positive and encouraging to everyone even during her illness.
In 1971, she dedicated her life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Her strong faith and hope for a better future, that the Bible promises, helped guide her life in every respect. She especially looked forward to the resurrection and living forever in a Paradise on earth. She loved to share this hope with others.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Thomas; daughters, Susan (Matthew) Ford of New Philadelphia, Kimberly (Darren) Perry of New Kensington, PA, and Marcia (Timothy) Hines of Bolivar; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation care has been entrusted to the Linn-Hert- Geib Funeral Home and Crematory. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1212 Kelly St. NW, New Philadelphia OH, on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive visitors beginning at 2:00 pm.
