Judith “Judi” Houston, 78 of Newcomerstown, passed away on March 27, 2025 at Cleveland Clinic.
She was born October 4, 1946, in Akron, Ohio to the late Herman and Lorena (Duke) Hunter. Judi worked as a teacher for over thirty-four years before retiring. She and her husband were proud dairy farm owners for over forty years. She was a member of New Pointe Community Church, where she loved to volunteer with the two year olds. She also volunteered at Christ’s Kitchen on Mondays. She also loved sewing, especially quilting. She was a generous woman who donated most of her quilts. She was an excellent baker, and was famous for her brownie bites and sugar cookies. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, and she will be missed by each one of them.
She is survived by her children Stephanie “Teffie” (Troy) Johnson, Jeremy (Candy) Houston, Angela Marie Hlad, Melissa “Missie” (Brennen) Dunfee; her grandchildren, Treven Johnson, Hannah Johnson, and Trey Johnson, Hunter Houston, Carter Hlad, Mason Hlad and Cami Hlad, Alec (Salina) Dunfee, Kenzie Dunfee, Jayden Dunfee and Bryce Dunfee; one great-grandson, Bexton Dunfee; her siblings Nancy (Dennis) Nelson, Linda Hunter, Francis (the late Tommy) Graber, and Betty (Tim) Polles; her sisters-in-law Nancy (the late John) Hunter, and Sharon (Tim) Boyd; her brother-in-law Mark (Betty) Houston; and many special nieces and nephews, and other family and friends.
Judi was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years Howard “Duran” Houston; her parents Herman and Lorena (Duke) Hunter; and her brother John Hunter, and her seven year old brother Hermie.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 pm officiated by Rev. Jeremy Houston.
