Mary Alice Reporting –

A staple community event will return this year to celebrate the July 4th holiday.

Gnadenhutten’s town square festival starts June 28th with the Queen, Jr. Miss Firecracker, and Little Miss Firecracker contests at Indian Valley High School. The midway opens Friday evening with a pet parade, baby and Jr. Parade Marshall contests, and an annual 5k walk/run starting at 7pm. The event continues into Saturday, July 1st with a car show, BBQ, parade, and fireworks.

For the parade, it’s starts at Indian Valley High School and will travel through the square, making a right on Tusc and down to Lindon, where it will take a right turn up to Main Street, and from there, the parade will continue to Chestnut and back to the school.

As for the “Country Fantasy In The Sky” fireworks display, it will be launched from Stockers Hill at the south end of town to synchronized music on 99.9FM. Village officials are asking fireworks attendees to park in town but for those choosing to park along US 36, they send out a reminder to stay safe as it is an open road during the event.
