June Eggan, age 93, of New Cumberland, Ohio, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday afternoon, April 26, 2024, in her residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was born February 10, 1931, in New Cumberland, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Harvey Olen and Dora (McQueen) Carpenter.  She attended the New Cumberland Grade School, where in the sixth grade she met and eventually fell in love with her future husband, Rev. Chauncey L. Eggan, whom she married October 8, 1949. He passed away on March 11, 2011.   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Williard and Edward Carpenter.

She was a proud graduate of Dover High School and graduated from Zion Bible Institute alongside her husband. She was a dedicated wife and mother who worked as a partner with her husband’s ministry for churches in Pennsylvania and Ohio, retiring in 2010 from the Calvary United Methodist Charge in Newcomerstown, Ohio.  While an ordained minister herself, her special gifts were in music where she used her beautiful piano playing to help others worship God.

She is survived by her three children Mrs. Pamela (Karl) Kohring of Bridgton, Maine, Mrs. Portia (Karl) King and Edward (Joann) Eggan, both of New Cumberland, her five grandchildren Eddie (Brittani) Eggan of New Philadelphia, OH and Mrs. Emily (Chaz) Colucy of Dover, OH, Mrs. Lindsey (Adam) Oliver of New Cumberland, Tyler King of Bolivar, OH, and Trevor King of New Cumberland, and a great-grandson, Eli Oliver.

Our mom was brave, courageous, and resilient, loving and caring, funny and spunky, and quick to laugh. And though she battled serious illnesses throughout her lifetime, she always remained joyful, never overcome by self-pity.  With her passing, a light in the world has been dimmed but we will do our best to shine brighter to make up for her loss.  She will be dearly missed!

A family graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in the New Cumberland Cemetery with Pastor Larry Stitt officiating.  There are no public calling hours scheduled. The Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville has been entrusted with the service arrangements. To leave an online condolence message please visit the funeral home website.
