Various organizations are partnering to observe the Juneteenth holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

Mark McKenzie, with the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market, says they’re having a cooking demonstration with Rodney Sutton at 5pm during this Wednesday’s market at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds. The market runs from 3 to 7pm, rain or shine.

On Thursday, there’s a program at the Dover Public Library, from 6:30 to 7:30pm, called ‘Juneteenth: Tin Town and Beyond.’ Colby Byrom with the First Baptist Church says several individuals will speak and reminisce about the history and culture of the African American community Tuscarawas County.

Anyone planning to attend Thursday’s program is asked to register through the library’s website or by calling.
