Karen Rae McCormick, 81, of Stone Creek, Ohio, passed peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 17, 2024. Karen was born in Dover in 1943 to Edward and Mildred (Bussinger) Brown and attended Stone Creek school.

Karen grew up in Stone Creek with a love for gardening and cooking and was best known for her delicious pies. Karen worked for many years as the secretary of Grace United Church of Christ in Stone Creek. Karen also served her Church over the years as the custodian and volunteered on various committees.

 
Karen is most appreciated for the love and care she provided to her family as a homemaker over the years. Karen enjoyed NASCAR and was her family’s biggest cheerleader at the racetrack as Floyd, Jim and Melissa enjoyed racing for many years. Karen even enjoyed a few laps around the track, herself boasting a second-place finish. Karen was blessed with a green thumb and always maintained a beautiful garden.
 
On October 14, 1961, Karen married the love of her life, Floyd McCormick and had their first child James Dean in 1962, followed by Melissa in 1965. Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mildred Brown, as well as her sister, Norma Raber and Norma’s husband, Dennis. Karen is survived by her loving husband Floyd; her son, Jim McCormick; daughter, Melissa McCormick; two granddaughters, Emily McCormick and Makkena McCormick; along with seven great-grandchildren.
