Karen Reidenbach, 82, of Sugarcreek passed away at Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek on Monday, September 15, 2025 following a period of declining health.

Born in Dover on February 21, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Francis (Jarvis) Davidson.  She married Glenn A. “Hoppy” Reidenbach on April 11, 1959.  He passed on July 9, 2010.

Karen was briefly employed as a hostess and cashier at the former Swiss Hat Restaurant in Sugarcreek but her most treasured roles were that of homemaker, wife, and mother.  She provided child care for all six of her grandchildren as well as for children of several other family and friends. She was a member of the Baltic Church of the Brethren, and enjoyed watching the Cleveland “Indians”.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by an infant son, Barry Allen Reidenbach; and brother and sister-in-law Larry and Carol Davidson.

She is survived by her three children Beth (Brett) Hostetler of Fresno, Holly Schlarb of Sugarcreek, and Glenn Mitchell (Lacinda) Reidenbach of Dover; grandchildren Brant (Jacquelyne) Hostetler, Braidan (Joel) Soria, Cambrea Schlarb, Ethan Schlarb, Kendall Reidenbach (Partner Gillian Mazur), and Kassidy Reidenbach (fiance` Michael Honeycutt); great granddaughters Sophia, Rozlyn, Lilliana, Aryabella Hostetler; and dear friends Gary and Betty Ley.

Services for Karen will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy McCullough officiating.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 – 3 p.m. (two hours prior to the service).  A private family burial will follow at the Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Baltic.
