Karen Sue Lloyd, 75, of Bolivar, OH passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024.
Karen was born on June 11, 1949 in Belpre, OH, to Robert and Virgia (Bell) Lemley. She graduated from Belpre High School in 1967 before attending The Ohio State University, where she graduated with a degree in education. She met Samuel Jay Lloyd at Ohio State, and they married in 1970.
Karen taught home economics for 35 years, first at Frontier Local in New Matamoras, then in Pickerington before settling at Tuscarawas Valley High School.
Karen lived life with a joyful heart. Strong in her faith, she raised her family to know and love the Lord. She was an active church member at the Bolivar Wesleyan Church, and continued to spread encouragement to many community members around her. All who knew Karen experienced her warm hospitality and passion for cooking; she showed love to friends and family by gathering them around her dinner table. She delighted in people and loved hearing all the details of her kids’, grandkids’, nieces’and nephews’ activities.
In her free time, Karen enjoyed crafts, music, singing, reading, and days spent on the family pontoon boat. She loved trips with family to the beach and special girls’ trips with her mom and sisters. An avid Ohio State football fan, Karen loved watching her Buckeyes.
Karen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Sam Lloyd, as well as her sons and daughters-in-law Robert & Holly (Pettijohn) Lloyd of Bolivar and Benjamin & Anne (Williams) Lloyd of Westerville. Karen (“Nana”) will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren, Kaylyn, Aubrey, Elise, and Nathan Lloyd. She is also survived by her sisters Donna (Curt) Davis of Andover, Massachusetts and Barbie (Ted) Gstalder of Gaithersburg, Maryland and numerous nieces and nephews. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Virgia Lemley of Belpre, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Bolivar Community Church in Bolivar. Pastors David Carpenter, Stephen Watson and Aaron Rae will officiate and burial will follow in Ft. Laurens Cemetery in Bolivar. Friends may call at the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
