Kathryn “Katie” D. Burdette, 96, of Dover, passed away on Tuesday, April 11,2023, at Park Village Health Care Center of Dover. Her name was Katie but was Nana to most that knew her.
Born October 3, 1926, in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late John Sr. and Asunta (Santa Lucia) Russo.
She was a homemaker but had also worked at Union Hospital for many years in the housekeeping department.
Kathryn married Leroy James Burdette, who proceeded her in death in 1965.
She was also proceeded in death by her daughter Kathy (Jim) Hasseman; two brothers, Mitchell and John Russo; four sisters, Carmelo Russo, Ann Zurcher, Mary Damiene, and Lucy Heck; along with her grandson, Jason and great-granddaughter, Julia.
Kathryn was a member of the Immaculate Conception in Dennison. She enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and watching tv. She loved spending time with her family and her beloved grandchildren. She also loved to cook, but we think she always left out one ingredient when sharing her recipes.
She leaves behind her children Larry (Susan) Mosher, Lori (Mike) Parker, and Jim (Lori) Burdette. Her grandchildren Natalie, Matt, Jamie, Brooke, Cory, Kirstin, Brandon, and Cassie along with 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, April 14, 2023, from 2-4 pm. A celebration of Kathryn’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00 am with Deacon Ron Fondriest officiating. Friends can call one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Immediately following the service, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
