Kenneth D. Murphy, 83, of Dover died Thursday, March 17, 2022, in the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia.

Ken retired in 1996 as a forklift operator for the Greer Steel Company in Dover.

Born Nov. 21, 1938, in New Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Fred and Ruby (Espenschied) Murphy. In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Doris Jarvis, Glenn Murphy and Maxine Blacka.

Ken was a graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He was a member of the former Dover Elks and member of the New Philadelphia Elks lodge. He was an avid golfer and he enjoyed vacationing in Myrtle Beach.

He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of 63 years, Carol (Hensel) Murphy. They were married on Jan. 10, 1959. Two daughters, Kim (Bob) Rufener and Jackie (Gary) Marinelli both of Dover; three grandchildren, Jeremy Rufener of Westerville, Jessica (Brice) Malterer of Strasburg and Rachel (Tyler) Light of Dover along with two great-grandchildren, Logan and Lilly Malterer.

A graveside service will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 beginning at 3:00 pm. Friends will be received Monday from 1:30pm-2:30 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover.
