Kenneth Dean McCleary, age 50, of Deersville was pronounced dead at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at 12:28 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 22 and State Route 519 in Harrison County.

He was born August 24, 1971 in Barnesville, Ohio; a son of the late James Leroy McCleary and Ruth Mae Carter McCleary.

Kenneth graduated in 1989 from Union Local High School, Morristown. He graduated from Commonwealth Truck Driving School in Georgetown, Kentucky in 2001. He was a truck driver for 19 ½ years for various companies and was currently employed at Reisbeck’s Food Market in Scio doing maintenance. He was a member of the Sons of the Flushing American Legion.

Kenneth is survived by a son, Jake McCleary of Sugarcreek; a daughter, Kendra McCleary of Deersville; long time companion of seventeen years, Ashley Cross; sister, Nancy (Mike) Toland of Piedmont; three nieces Chelsea (Austin) Baker, Kaylee Toland, and Chrissy Marie (Dwayne) McCleary; five nephews: James Michael (Toni) McCleary, Logan, Noah, Max, and Lincoln Milliken of Cadiz; Ashley’s parents: Richard and Edna Cross of Deersville; an aunt, Carol Stewart of Flushing; an uncle, Bill McCleary of Holloway; and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mom, Johanna Stewart McCleary; three brothers: James McCleary, William McCleary, and Chuck McCleary; and a sister, Ruth Ann McCleary.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Koch Funeral Home, Freeport. Services will be held Friday, May 20 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Scio.
