Kenneth G. “Ken” Rose, Jr., 62, a family man and an “Appalachian Hillbilly”, died Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born in Marlington, West Virginia on October 21, 1962, he was the son of Delores G. (Sharp) Rose of Dover and the late Kenneth G. Rose, Sr.
After graduating from Greenbrier High School in West Virginia, his path led him to Ohio. Here, he worked with the City of Dover for 29 years, currently as a Crew Leader with the Parks & Recreation Department.
He was a simple man who loved his family, all things Big Foot, the Washington Redskins, Dover tennis, the beach, and lounging at the pool. Ken looked forward to Christmas each year and was often found watching sports on television, too. He was a wonderful Pop-pop to Boone and was eagerly anticipating the birth of his second grandson this coming April.
He will forever be missed and cherished by his family including his wife, the former Christine M. Thorne of Dover; daughters, Miranda (Christopher) Feltrup, McKenna (Benjamin) Lowe, Courtney Rose, and Taylor Rose; his mother, Delores Rose; his grandson, Boone Feltrup; siblings, Rebecca (Jimmy) Simpson and Gregory (Susan) Rose; aunts, Janet Dean, Carolyn McCloud, Patricia (Jack) Loudermilk, Carolyn Waugh and Susan Terrell; his dogs, Buddy and Brady; his expected grandson due in April; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held in NewPointe Community Church on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. A service celebrating Ken’s life will be led by Pastor Dave VanDonge beginning at 4 p.m.
Memorial contributions in Ken’s memory may be directed to the Dover Girls Tennis Team, c/o Dover Tornado Club, P.O. Box 81, Dover, OH 44622.
