Kenneth P. “Ken” Murphy, age 87, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Dover’s New Dawn Retirement Community.
Born February 10, 1935, in Dover, he was the son of the late Fred E. “Fritz” and Esther H. Mears Murphy. Ken attended Dover High School and went on to serve honorably with the United States Army. He married the former Janet C. Wallick on October 23, 1954. The couple had a daughter, Renee, and shared nearly 67 years of marriage prior to Janet’s passing on August 11, 2021. Ken was employed by the Warner & Swasey Company of New Philadelphia for 34 years, retiring in 1995.
Ken and Janet enjoyed travel and had visited all 50 of the United States. When they traveled to Alaska, they did so by motorcycle. Ken and Janet especially liked going to Florida every year.
Ken is survived by a grandson, Christian Smart, and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, and his beloved wife, Janet, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee E. Smart; his grandson, Anthony Smart; and his brother, Donald F. Murphy.
Ken will be buried privately with Janet in Dover Burial Park. Donations in his memory may be made to Community Hospice.
