Kenneth Raymond Markle, 72, a resident of New Philadelphia, Ohio since 1970, went home to the Lord on Monday, August 8, 2022, from the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, following a brief illness. Born April 6, 1950 in Cambridge, Ohio, he was a son of the late Raymond Kenneth and Ethel Blanche (Gray) Markle.

On December 20, 1970 in Jerusalem Church, Ken wed the former Bonnie Lee Loveday who survives him at their home. He is also survived by their son, John Kenneth Markle of Massillon, Ohio, and his son, Thomas Hudson Markle; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Elisabeth and Neil Burns of Cassadaga, New York and their sons, William Kenneth and Wyatt Everett Burns; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Ronald Weisenstine of Vermillion; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Cheryl Markle of Sherrodsville; and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Ken grew up in Old Washington where he was a 1968 graduate of Zane Trace High School. He was a heavy equipment mechanic who was employed by Rebuild for 36 years before working at Ohio Cat until his retirement in 2016. He loved woodworking, enjoyed camping with his family, and was an avid model train enthusiast, especially treasuring the time that he spent running the trains with his grandsons, William and Wyatt.

A man of deep faith, Ken was a longtime active member at Jerusalem Church in York Township near New Philadelphia, having served as an Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent, and usher over the years. He will be sadly missed by his church family.

Pastor Tom Hendershot will officiate a 2:00 p.m. funeral on Thursday, August 11, at Jerusalem Church. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the funeral.
