Free kids’ coats are available from the local JFS office while supplies last.

The agency received over 240 coats in various sizes from the organization Operation Warm to distribute to families in need.

Eligibility supervisor Debbie Whitney says that’s about twice as many as last year when they were also given shoes to pass out.

Coats are available on weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm from the Tuscarawas County JFS office, located at 389 16th street southwest in New Philadelphia, just past eagle truck stop.

It’s encouraged but not necessary to bring the kids, just make sure to get the correct size since there are no exchanges or returns.

No proof of income is required, although participants will be asked to fill out a one-page form attesting that their household is below 200-percent of the federal poverty level.
