Nick McWilliams reporting – Work is planned for the coming months on an expansion of the existing Bellstores location on McCauley Drive in Uhrichsville.
Recently, Mayor Mark Haney discussed the need to vacate the alley that runs behind the current location to allow for the planned construction.
He says that it’s a rather extensive undertaking, and represents an investment in the city.
“It’s a roughly $8 million project. They bought the old [922] Drive Thru, they bought the old Starfire gas station, and they bought the property around it other than one piece. We had AEP there, and we had Twin City Water and Sewer there. They’re going to move the lines for water and sewer with no charge to them.”
All associated costs with moving current sewer lines will be Bellstores’ responsibility, and the company will also expand the road behind the building to accommodate truck traffic.
Haney says that the city also negotiated a 10-year maintenance agreement which will also leave road care up to Bellstores.
The new-look station will feature truck bays, a full store, and potentially electric charging ports down the road, according to the mayor.
