Larry Wayne Leeper, 75, of Uhrichsville, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022, at the Community Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia. Born June 26, 1946, he was a son of D. Iris (Decker) Kerschbaumer of Uhrichsville and the late Elmer Kinsey Leeper, Sr.

Larry was a 1967 graduate of Claymont High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, proudly serving until 1969. He returned home to a long career in the local coal mining industry, working for Cam Co. and most recently, Kimble’s Mining until his retirement. In his spare time, he loved fishing, as well as spending time with his many friends playing pool and darts at his favorite taverns, Tiny’s and Tammy’s, and at Uhrichsville Eagles Aerie #2264 where he was a longtime member.

On October 17, 1970, Larry married Linda Diane (Capstack) Leeper with whom he enjoyed 36 ½ years of marriage until her passing on April 22, 2007. They are survived by three children, Amy C. (companion, Theron Berger) Hart, Betsy (companion, Joseph Crites) Sanders, and Larry W. (Shelly) Leeper, Jr.; 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Ryan, Anne, Abby, Jimmy, Joseph, Taylor, Jonathan, Larry III, Cherokkee, and Cheyenne; and 12 great-grandchildren. Larry is also survived by his brother, Gary (companion, Mary) Leeper; sister, Dorothy Tinney; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Ernie and Linda Johnson, Michael Johnson, and David Brown; and many nieces and nephews, as well as his mother, Iris. In addition to his father and wife, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Louis “Pop” Kerschbaumer; brothers-in-law, Charles Johnson and Earl Tinney; and sister-in-law, Jackie Brown.

Rev. Terry Wilcox will officiate a 1:00 p.m. funeral on Friday, April 1, at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover with a military committal service. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice.
