Laurene Klein, 100, of Sugarcreek passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the Inn at Northwood Village in Dover.
She was born on August 24, 1924, in Dundee to the late Morris and Nettie (Amsted) Gerber and married Charles W. Klein on October 19, 1946. He died on March 30, 2020.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Sugarcreek. Laurene enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and cards. She was a fabulous cook and was best known for her delicious grape pie. Her favorite thing to do though, was spending time with her grandchildren and family celebrating her 100th birthday at Inn at Northwood in Dover in August of 2024.
She is survived by two children, Edward C. (Kim) Klein and Tammy (Mick) Fanning both of Sugarcreek; 5 grandchildren, Adam, Nick, and Kaden Klein, Brandi Regula and Zach Fanning; and 10 great grandchildren complete the family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her 4 brothers and 5 sisters.
The family is celebrating the Lives of Charles and Laurene and the memories they shared for 74 years with a Celebration of their lives to be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Earl Rogers officiating. Friends may call on Saturday at the funeral home from 1-3 PM prior to services.
