LaVaughn Barcus, 96, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully, on Friday, November 15, 2024 in Amberwood Manor at New Philadelphia, following a period of declining health.
Born in Canton, LaVaughn was the daughter of the late Alfred C. and Mary E. (Vaughn) Householder and was a 1946 graduate of Lincoln High School at Canton. LaVaughn was a homemaker and also worked for many years as a Poll Worker for the Tuscarawas County Board of Elections.
Surviving are her three children, Richard Barcus of New Philadelphia: two daughters, Debra (Paul) Hinkley of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Brenda Barcus of New Philadelphia; a granddaughter, Carrie (Sean) Palmer and a grandson, Richard (Jo) Barcus II.
In addition to her parents and her husband, George L. Barcus; a son, Dennis Barcus; a grandson, Daniel Barcus; five sisters and three brothers also preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 10 to 11 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where a service celebrating LaVaughn’s life will begin at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Leanna Roe officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia.
