Nick McWilliams reporting – The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and LEAD Drug Task Force have been selected for grant funding from the 2023 Ohio Drug Law Enforcement Fund.

The announcement came from Governor Mike DeWine that 44 law enforcement agencies in Ohio would receive various amounts from the fund to enforce drug laws and combat illegal drug-related activity.

Dollars can be put to use for investigations of trafficking activity, multi-agency coordination and intelligence work. Grants can also be used for local drug recovery program efforts and to help overdose victims and their families.

The county sheriff’s office and task force will receive just over $10,000 through the Office of Criminal Justice Systems.

To the north, the Stark County Sheriff’s Office will receive one of the largest amounts with more than $124,000 on the way.
