The public is invited for an America 250 launch event at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum.

2026 marks the actual anniversary and events are being planned, including one honoring Ohio transportation, says Museum Director Wendy Zucal.

“We were fortunate enough to get on the governor’s commission for America 250 and the commission decided to have five signature events. They’re doing a lot around murals, Ohio goes to the movies, homecomings, trailways, and the fifth one is the Buckeye Train, which is reminiscent of the freedom train in 1976 anniversary.”

On Thursday, June 26th, the National Historic Landmark will host a launch from 11am to 1pm.

“It’s a little fun party to kickoff this event and it’s a media day to let folks know more details about the Buckeye Train, and the America 250 commission will be coming to Dennison to help make that announcement. We’re excited that that Dennison was lucky enough to be involved in this celebration this much.”

Thursday’s event will also feature donuts and coffee, 1940’s entertainment, and more. Part of the notification will be a two-day event in 2026 that will include separate train excursions, with tickets going on sale at the launch celebration.
