Lenora E. “Nodie” Dudgeon, 91, of Tippecanoe, was called to her heavenly home on Friday, July 1, 2022, from Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsville, after a period of declining health. Born October 3, 1930, in Dennison, she was the daughter of the late William and Wanda Pearl (Gatchell) Boughton.

Nodie grew up in Dennison and was a 1948 graduate of Dennison High School before earning her Bachelor’s degree in education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She began her long career as an educator at Lancaster schools where she taught for 5 years before returning to Tuscarawas County. She was a vocal music teacher for Dennison and Claymont Schools for 25 years until her retirement in 1985.

She loved music and sharing her talents with her community as she was active at Park Christian Church – especially their choir – where she was a longtime member. She also enjoyed helping with musical productions by the Deersville Community Players and was the organizer of the Clayland Pipers Community Chorus. In the 90s, Nodie and her husband, Bill, with whom she celebrated 65 years of a loving marriage, operated the Moravian Gift Shop in Deersville for a decade.

On February 11, 1957, Nodie wed William Howard Dudgeon who survives her along with their daughters, Gayle Dudgeon and Jill (Mark) Roth; grandchildren, Sara Mahaffey, Bryan (Alisha) Mahaffey, Brooke (Josh) Piccin, and Jerod (Shonna) Roth; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Grayson, Sadie, Rowan, Pressley, Gionna Jersi Ridge, and Bexley; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Zella Scott, who raised her like her own; brother, William Boughton, Jr.; sister, Betty Sandry; and Zella’s children, Charles Scott, Delia Beamer, and Irene Andreatta who were like her siblings.

In keeping with Nodie’s wishes, Pastor Dave Bryan will officiate a private funeral service at the R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Park Christian Church, 236 Miller Ave., Dennison, OH  44621.
