Leona Mae Wilson, 85, of Dennison, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Claymont Health and Rehabilitation in Uhrichsville where she had resided for the past several years. Born November 29, 1938 in Midvale, she was a daughter of the late James Edward and Bernadette (Morgan) Gamble.
Leona was a Twin City resident throughout her life and a 1956 graduate of Dennison High School. In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, she had worked for Older Bros. in Dennison for 16 years, as well as for L & N. She enjoyed volunteering at Twin City Hospital and for local elementary schools and had loved to bowl. She was a member of Park Christian Church in Dennison for many years.
On December 31, 1955, Leona married Ramon Lee “Ray” Wilson with whom she enjoyed 65 years of marriage before his passing on June 30, 2021. They are survived by four children, Ramon (companion, Tina) Wilson, Trent Wilson, Susan (Troy) McMath, and Brian (Deanne) Wilson; nine grandchildren, Tabatha (Lucas) Crawshaw, Michelle Hirning, Ramon A. (Erica) Wilson, Jr., Jacob (Norma) Wilson, Jesse (Harmony) Wilson, Kelly Garcia, Jamie (Tommy) Woodman, Kenzie (Zach) Braun, and Jacob Edwards; 18 great-grandchildren; and an expected great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Carol (Richard) Shaver; sister-in-law, Carol Sue (Ed) Halsey; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Jane Wilson, and niece, Jamie Mayberry.
Leona’s son, Trent, will officiate her memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 5, at R. K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison. Interment will follow in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.
