Lewis N. Wendling, 67, of Dover, passed away suddenly while doing one of his favorite things – making hay for his beef cattle – on August 31, 2023, near Dover. Born April 17, 1956, in Dover, he was a son of Gwendolyn J. (Miller) Wendling of Trail and the late David Lee Wendling.
Louie grew up in Green and was a 1974 graduate of Green High School before his family moved to the Dover area where he spent most of his adult life. He was a bricklayer by trade and worked many years with Bricklayers Union Local #6 in Canton, but his first love was farming. He also loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his many friends. Louie was a member of Dover Eagles Aerie #515.
He will be deeply missed by his surviving family which includes his mother, Gwen; wife of 31 years, Lisa R. (Umpleby) Wendling; son, Christian Michael Wendling; daughter, Kaitlin Wendling; brothers, Todd (Susan) Wendling, Jack Wendling, and Wendell (Renee) Wendling; sister, Luann (Robert) Morrison; and several nieces and nephews.
Louie’s family plan to celebrate his life with a private service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to do so by a contribution to the Masonry Program at Buckeye Career Center.
