Mary Alice Reporting –

Large, televised events, like the Super Bowl, often lead to significant financial gain for alcohol-permitted establishments but they have a responsibility in ensuring the safety of patrons.

According to Men’s Journal, American drink over 300 million gallons of beer on Super Bowl Sunday, and this could be at a home or an establishment, and a liquor license could be at risk if laws and regulations are not followed.

Agent in Charge of the Ohio Investigative Unit Kellette Mayberry is reminding these businesses to not serve intoxicated patrons, watch for anyone attempting to tamper with another’s drink, and not allow illegal drugs into the building or on the property.

“Always look for signs of intoxication which are slurred speech, difficulty in making decisions, stumbling. That’s also a safety tip for individuals that are out drinking with their friends. Always watch out for friends when leaving permit premises, don’t walk home alone, don’t allow your friends to leave alone or with anyone they don’t know.”

When it comes to house parties, Mayberry stress to ensure those underage are not consuming alcohol and to ensure anyone who has been drinking to not get behind the wheel, because in the event something would happen there could be criminal penalties.

Anyone who seed impaired drivers or other illegal activities can always call the nearest Ohio State Highway Patrol Post by dialing #677.
