Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for mentors.
About 88 kids are currently on the waiting list looking for a Big that will believe in them and provide an extra person in their corner.
Beverly Pearch the president and CEO at BBBS of East Central Ohio says the program asks for 4 hours a month that can be split up any way that fits the mentor’s schedule.
“Anyone over 18 that has an interest in working with kids or helping the community can be a big. You don’t have to be a hero to be a big, you just have to be consistent and show up.”
The program hosts a couple of activities each month that the big can take their little to. She says the organization pairs mentors with compatible kids.
“Child safety is their number one priority then they work through a process that matches the big to the little based on interests.”
To participate, visit the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ office in New Towne Mall during weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or their website at bigs4kids.com. Also check out their Facebook page Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Ohio for more information.
