Lloyd D. Bleininger, age 84, of Dover, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in Dover’s Park Village Health Care Center.

Born February 21, 1940, in Dover, he was a son of the late Ervin and Bessie (Metzger) Bleininger. Lloyd attended school in Ragersville and played on the school’s basketball team. Unfortunately, his father’s ill health necessitated that he leave school to help on the family farm. Lloyd wed the former Louise Barker on October 11, 1959. The couple had four children and shared 53 years of marriage prior to Louise’s passing on June 26, 2013. Lloyd was employed by the Kimble Companies of Dover for nearly 50 years, retiring as a heavy equipment operator.

Lloyd attended Winfield Community Church, and enjoyed helping others whenever he could. Some of his favorite pastimes were woodworking – he was an especially good carpenter – and gardening.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Robin) Miller of Sugarcreek, Toni (Gary) Scalzi of Centerville, David (Renee) Bleininger of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Ronald (Melissa) Bleininger of Dover; his grandchildren, Jessica Miller (Tyler) Chisler, Andrew, Amanda and Aaron Evans, Ryan (Arianna) Bleininger, Angela Rector and Natasha Bleininger; his great-grandchildren, Lucian Miller, Yovani Lopez, Emma Rector, Willard Norman, Violet and Iris Bleininger; his sisters and brother, Anamae Ribet, Donna Fox, Betty Kaser and Richard Bleininger; and his many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, and his beloved wife, Louise, he was preceded in death by his great-grandsons, Francisco Diego Pedro and Dakota Lee Martin-Bleininger, and his sister and brothers, Agnes Penrod, Raymond, Wayne, Robert and Glen Bleininger; three nephews and a niece, Dale Penrod, Paul Fox, Keith and Annette Kaser.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, on Sunday, July 14, 2 – 5 p.m., and on Monday, July 15, 10 – 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Dover’s Ridgecrest Memory Gardens. Following the committal, there will be a lunch in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover.
