The Tuscarawas County Commissioners approved four local agencies with grants related to healthy aging.
The Ohio Department of Aging issued the dollars and the County Board of Commissioners made the decision on where to disburse them.
Commissioner Kristen Zemis says they received over $325,000.
“We parceled out money for senior nutrition, minor home repairs, [and] transporting them. Grants designed for monies to keep senior adults in their homes.”
Mobile Meals was granted almost $57,000 and HARCATUS over $57,000 to assist with nutrition and food assistance. Over $21,000 went to Society for Equal Access for transportation needs and the Tuscarawas County Senior Center received $190,000 to assist with home repair, along with nutrition and transportation.
