Mary Alice Reporting –

Filming will happen for a project that needs extras as the crew comes to the New Philadelphia, Dover, and Canton areas.

Claymont High School graduate, and Studio 523 Producer/Director Richie Johns says their newest film, ‘Called!’, is the story of a former pastor who is burnt out from ministry and takes a temporary grocery job and meets various characters.

To make the scenes a reality, Johns says they will film locally April 23rd through the 26th.

“Pretty big scene that filming on Wednesday, April 24th at Canton Nazarene Church. We need a couple hundred people there to film a church scene, and then we have a few other scenes that we’re filming throughout the rest of that week, we’re filming at Quaker Cinema and at the New Philadelphia Buehler’s, so we need a variety of people.”

Some scenes happen during the day and others at night so there are multiple time slots where background actors are needed. A few feature roles are also available.

“I’m excited to come back home for the project. I picked Tuscarawas County and northeast Ohio specifically because of the people there and I kind of had all the locations when the project was pitched to me.”
