Several local fire departments were selected to receive the 2024 Multi-Agency Radio Communications Systems (MARCS) Grant.

307 fire departments in 75 counties received funding for equipment and service fees from the $4 million available. More than half of the grant funds were awarded to volunteer fire departments and 73 departments are first-time MARCS Grant recipients.

The Great Trail Fire District and Sherrodsville Volunteer Fire Department in Carroll County received $10,000 and $960, respectively.

Awards in Coshocton County totaled almost $37,000 for five departments.

For Harrison County, the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company and Scio Volunteer Fire Department received $780 and $6,028, respectively.

Holmes Fire District #1 and Richland Twp Volunteer Fire Department received $1,020 and $2,235, respectively, for operations in Holmes County.

Four departments in Muskingum County were awarded a total of almost $24,000.

Stark County received a total of $16,710 for six departments.

The Orrville Fire Department received $4,840 for operations in Wayne County.

The State Fire Marshal received more than $10 million in requests for the funding cycle.
