Lois M. Hinds, age 96, of New Philadelphia passed away peacefully, Saturday, August 10, 2024, following a period of declining health.
Born in Alliance on July 20, 1928, she was one of 13 children of the late Glen and Lucile (Wilhelm) Slabaugh.
Lois married Jack E. Hinds on September 20, 1947, and together they raised three children and shared 54 years of marriage until his passing on March 10, 2001.
Jack and Lois had wintered in Florida for 15 years where Lois honed her singing and shuffleboard skills.
She retired from Ohio Bank and enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting, and hosting the Christmas Eve party for her children and grandchildren. She spent several winters in California with her son and traveled to Greece when she was 91 to visit her sister.
Lois is survived by her son, Jeff (Joyce) Hinds; grandchildren, Nathan Furniss, Kristina (John) Drummer, Monica (Phil) Blevins, J. Douglas (Sara) Hinds, and Max (Sara) Hinds; her siblings, Faith, Mark, Luke, Gail, Phyllis, and Loyal; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Lois was preceded in death by her children, Jack A. Hinds and Diane (Jim) Furniss; as well as her brothers and sisters, Wilma, Carol, Paul, Mabel, Cora, and Joy.
A service celebrating Lois’ life will be led by Pastor Brian Flood in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Friday, August 16, 2024, beginning at 11 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service from 10 – 11 AM. Burial will follow in Evergreen Burial Park.
