Ohio’s longest running outdoor theatre production has lost one of the driving forces behind its lasting success.
Longtime Trumpet in the Land performer, playwright and director Joe Bonamico passed away Saturday after a brief illness at the age of 68.
He portrayed Simon Girty on the stage for over three decades. Bonamico was the lead in the theatre’s production of Dracula each fall, as well as a key part in countless other shows over the years working alongside his sister, general manager Margaret Bonamico.
His credits also include appearances in various films, documentaries, and reportedly even a super bowl commercial.
A service for Joe Bonamico is scheduled for Friday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, where donations can be made in his memory. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison.
