Jeffrey Mamarella says it’s been an honor to serve the residents as he steps down from the Tuscarawas County Treasurer seat.
“For 25 years, so it’s time for me to move on. No longer be the treasurer as of October 6th.”
Matt Judy, a former county auditor, will be the interim treasurer.
Mamarella recounts accomplishments over the years, including the start of the land reutilization program and upgrading office procedures as technology advanced.
“We started a prepayment program, and that was instrumental for people to pay taxes so they didn’t get two large bills per year.”
In retirement, Mamarella says he’s looking forward to spending time with grandkids but also on the road.
“I think I’m going to enjoy not having to be anywhere. I ride a motorcycle and I don’t have to come back to a meeting, which is kind of nice.”
The elected treasurer’s position term ends August 2029. The Tuscarawas County Democratic Central Committee is seeking interested applicants to send a resume and then attend an October 20th meeting to fill the unexpired seat.
