Magratha Baumgardner Shearer Zimmerman, 89, of Uhrichsville, died Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare Truman House in New Philadelphia. A daughter of the late Marian Dewey and Laura Opal (Hardy) Baumgardner, she was born December 13, 1934 in West Chester, Ohio. She married William F. Shearer on August 13, 1951. He passed on January 2, 1999.
Magratha is survived by 3 daughters, Lora Shearer, Linda Casey, and Lou (Charles) Jackson; 3 grandchildren, Amanda Casey, Amy Casey, and Carlie (Roger) Robin; 3 great-grandchildren, Monica Robin, Codie Casey, and Taylor Casey; sister, Dora Lippencott; brother, Gene (Lillian) Baumgardner; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Shearer; grandson, Charlie Jackson; 3 brothers, Earl, William “Joe”, and John Baumgardner; 2 sisters, Murlene Fair and Glennadine Greenwalt; son-in-law, Dave Casey; and former spouse, Newton Zimmerman.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Uhrichsville. Magratha greatly enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting.
According to Magratha’s wishes, she will be cremated before burial beside her late husband, William, in Uhrichsville’s Union Cemetery without a public visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be made to her family in care of her daughter, Lou Jackson, 4101 Dutch Valley Rd. S.E., Uhrichsville, OH 44683.
