Following a female reporting she had been assaulted, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded on Thursday just before 9am.

While talking with her, she said the aggressor was 36-year-old Thomas Snyder, of Malvern, who was observed passing at a high rate of speed on Alliance Road. The deputy attempted to catchup but was unsuccessful.

Snyder was then located, around 11am, in the Village of Minerva, and a traffic stop was conducted, with assistance called in for the Canton Police Department K9 Officer and their SWAT Team.

Almost an hour passed of negotiations to comply when Snyder again fled from police on State Route 30, beginning the dual county pursuit.

Roughly an hour later the pursuit ended when Snyder stopped and fled the vehicle, before jumping off the State Route 44 overpass, onto SR 62 where he was apprehended. He did suffer facial and head injuries and was transported to a hospital before being flown to Akron General.

No further details about his condition or potential charges were available.
