Mary Alice Reporting –
The search for a man who fled from police in a stolen vehicle and then on foot ended Thursday morning.
Tuscarawas County Sheriff Orvis Campbell explains that a Good Samaritan had noticed someone walking along the road and called law enforcement.
Deputies responded, at around 10:30am, to the area of Stone Creek Road, near Crooked Run Road, in New Philadelphia.
“Was walking up the roadway. We had deputies close. Deputies were able to surround him and he didn’t put up any type of fight. They detained him. He did give a phony ID but he was easily identified by his photograph and tattoos and has later has since admitted that he was Joshua Houston.”
Houston was transported to the Tuscarawas County Justice Center and Sheriff Campbell says charges from multiple agencies are anticipated.
“The agencies that were pursuing him have first dibs at him for the pursuit. He does have multiple warrants from different jurisdictions so he will be held on those as well. He’ll have a multitude of charges here locally and with the warrants filed from other areas.”
Campbell commends the work done in this situation as New Philadelphia police had responded to several call-ins and that the matter has been resolved without any injuries.
