Mary Alice reporting – A man who fled from police is getting jail time. Joseph Robert Gastaldo was in court Tuesday morning, sentenced by Judge Michael Ernest.

The case stems from the 33-year-old not obeying an order or signal from police officers on multiple occasions, pleading guilty after being taken into custody.

At the imposition of sentence hearing, in the Tuscarawas County Common Pleas Court, Assistant Prosecutor Scott Deedrick noted the seriousness of the case.

“This is a situation that speaks for itself. Mr. Gastaldo, on three separate occasions, fled from the police. It’s obviously these are serious charges because anytime someone engages in this kind of conduct they’re jeopardizing their welfare, any passengers in that vehicle, other motorists and law enforcement.”

Gastaldo will serve 36 months in prison and then be subject to community control sanctions once released. He will also have his license revoked for five years.
